Welcome from our Headteacher.

Welcome to Halfpenny Lane Junior, Infant & Nursery School

All staff at Halfpenny Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School strive to ensure that our pupils are provided with a safe and caring school environment, which enables them to be happy, confident and to enjoy the most formative years of their lives.

We want them to be supported and challenged in equal measure, so they achieve their goals and realise their undoubted potential, both inside and outside the classroom.

At Halfpenny Lane, we have high ambitions and expectations of all our pupils and encourage them to work hard, be committed, conduct themselves well and treat fellow members of our community with respect and humility.

In 2023, we were extremely proud of our Year 6 cohort, who achieved some magnificent Key Stage 2 SATs outcomes.  In reading, writing and maths the outcomes resulted in Halfpenny Lane J, I & N School being placed in the top 1% of the country. In terms of the pupils progress scores, our pupils were placed 13th and 17th respectively for maths and reading in the UK.

I am grateful for the trust that parents place in us. The power of having a strong school/home partnership should never be underestimated. In return, we aim to provide the highest quality educational experience we can, aspiring towards a culture of achievement for all.

The school’s broad and well sequenced curriculum model encourages pupils to excel in one or more areas and to grow in confidence and develop new skills. Our approach seeks to identify and maximise the strengths of every individual and to help all pupils to overcome any obstacles to their success. At the end of their career at Halfpenny Lane School, we hope our pupils have developed a real and genuine passion for learning, whilst experiencing lots of fun and enjoyable experiences along the way.

At Halfpenny Lane School, the learning that takes place in the classroom is the cornerstone of the school's success. An extremely dedicated team of well qualified, skilled teachers and support staff provide quality learning and teaching for the pupils, and the training and support we provide all our staff with, helps to maintain and develop further the quality of both the academic and pastoral provision.

Our pupils are enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious to succeed and maintain positive standards of behaviour and engagement, in line with our expectations of them. They are regularly reminded about the importance associated with presenting smartly in their school uniforms and being proud of the school they attend.

All members of staff are continually working in partnership with the pupils, to ensure they can self-regulate as much as possible and are demonstrating politeness and good manners across all aspects of their schooling.

We believe that the education which pupils receive at Halfpenny Lane School will enable your children to become successful, responsible and well-rounded citizens of the future.
