We are proud to announce that Halfpenny Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School have achieved the Eco Green Flag status with Distinction. This achievement is testament to the hard work and commitment from staff and students in making the environment a priority.
The Eco Green Flag is an internationally recognised symbol of environmental excellence awarded to schools that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to sustainability. Achieving the award with distinction means that Halfpenny Lane School not only met the standards but exceeded expectations in creating a greener future.
The ‘HPL Eco Crew’ have been at the heart of this eco-transformation and have worked extremely hard on a variety of green initiatives including:
- Full scale recovery of the HPL Pomfret Garden/Outdoor Classroom
- £300 raised for the World Wildlife Foundation.
- Litter picking across Pontefract town centre and Pontefract Park.
- Participation in the Great British Clean Up Week
- Recycling bins across school.
